.dev Rest in Peace

Why?

When Google bought the .dev TLD we knew it was just a matter of time before they broke the internet. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but they did cause us pain when they forced Chrome to use https for all of the .dev sites we were using to create the internet on our local machines.

Thankfully, Adam and his team had a solution. Use .test!

Unfortunately, Google doesn't allow oauth callbacks using the .test TLD.

Until they do, run valet domain dev.rip and enjoy the almost seamless auto-completion to example.dev.rip (may take a few tries to train your browser).

You'll also be able to shed a tear as you remember how nice the .dev TLD was for local development.
